1966 Gretsch 6119 Tennessean Burgundy Richard Fortus From Guns N' Roses Owned
I have been collecting my collection of guitars for over 10 years, selecting the best at my own discretion. There are more than 20 guitars in the collection: vintage, rare, limited, very sounding, guitars of famous guitarists... Nobody could have thought that there would be a war in Ukraine, and music, my concerts, recordings, planned albums were postponed indefinitely, everything became secondary compared to the lives of family and friends. I have been thinking for more than a month and have decided to sell part of my collection of guitars... the prices will be above average, because every guitar in my collection is the BEST I've owned in 10 years.
Guitar #8 from my collection. This is not a 60s reissue, this is a REAL 1966 Gretsch edition, the first guitar of Richard Fortus (Guns N' Roses) that he bought at 18 back in 1984, this guitar was his main guitar for many years and was the main guitar of the house. Moreover, this guitar has a pedigree, in addition to Fortus, it belonged to the legendary country performer Bobby Caldwell (from whom Richard bought it). The guitar has had two owners in 56 years - Bobby, Richard, I am the third one, kept it in the case like a Holy Grail.
You can find information about this guitar even on the official website of the Gretsch manufacturer itself - https://www.gretschguitars.com/artists/richard-fortus-profile
"Fortus bought his very first Gretsch, a 1966 Tennessean from the late Bobby Caldwell, who was an icon of country music and was considered one of the most influential guitar players in the St. Louis area." This particular guitar - it's already history!
From Richard Fortus (I chatted with him on Instagram):
"I bought this from legendary guitarist Bobby Caldwell when I was about 18. I have used it on many albums. I used it on Am I Wrong by Love Spit Love and played it on tour and on televison performances of that song."
